Beautiful pictures New Straits Times photographer share with its readers.
Children from Kampung Bongkud in Menggatal, Kota Kinabalu walked eight kilometres, two-hour journey to attend the first day of school at SK Tombongon through muddy tracks, jungle trails and three rivers.

Salam diterima.
Klang?
Saya ada beberapa saudara mara disana.
I would like to see a few snapshots of that kampong, say of about thirty years ago. Then we have something more meaningful and fairer to make comments.
Forty years go I used to drive almost every week along a winding road through Menggatal. The most prominet sight was of a chapel on a small hill. I was from happy then.
I wonder today.

Mr AlManar,
When I decided to share these beautiful NST photos, many questions cross my mind.
- These children needs education,
It must be very dark, before the sunrise, when these children leave their homes,
- thus it must be dark too when they pass these area.
- They arrive the school feeling tired, how can they stay focus in class?
- How if it rains?
- Continuous raining?
- How if water in the river swells?
And many more questions.
The picturesque scenery touche me, but the children's safety, focus & education touches me more.
